Gov’t to offer COVID-19 vaccination in transport hubs

MANILA, Philippines — The government will soon offer COVID-19 vaccination in transport terminals and train stations amid the rise in coronavirus infections, Malacañang said Friday.

According to Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles, the move is an effort to make vaccines more accessible to the people.

(In the coming days, the DOTr will establish vaccination sites in train stations, piers, and tollways.)

COVID-19 vaccines will also be available at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) from January 24 to 28.

Nograles said 500 AstraZeneca vaccine doses will be allotted per day at the vaccination at PITX next week. The activity, dubbed as “We Vax As One: Mobile Vaccination Drive,” will allow walk-ins, with registration to be done onsite.

“Ang programang ito ay sadyang ihahandog natin para sa mga transport workers at mga commuter (This program is for transport workers and commuters),” he added.

According to Nograles, over 56 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 while 65 million are partially vaccinated. Around 5.87 million doses have been provided as boosters.

Select pharmacies and clinics in Metro Manila are also offering Sinovac and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine boosters from January 20 to 21.
