Ilocos Sur Residents Killed, Cook Shark Spotted Drifted at the Shore

Authorities and concerned netizens condemned the residents of Ilocos Sur after they allegedly killed and eat the shark spotted at the shore.

In Santiago, Ilocos Sur, a shark caught in a net was brought ashore and thrashed before being fried. According to the report, the footage of the shark slaughter in Barangay Sabangan went viral on social media.

The shark can be seen thrashing on the beach as it is hauled ashore in the footage. The shark was soon battered to death. The event occurred on Monday afternoon, according to chairman Oscar Agbulos.

The people had just arrived at the meeting in the field where the shark was butchered and its meat is given to the people, according to a concerned resident. The shark meat was distributed, and many people ate it. Because it happened in front of the resto-bars and people congregated, the males were not clearly seen in the video, Agbulos stated in his interview.

The provincial administration and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources have been informed about the occurrence (BFAR). But it’s important to figure out what kind of shark was killed first because not all sharks are endangered and shouldn’t be killed.

It’s also important to figure out who’s responsible for the shark’s massacre. If the shark is determined to be an endangered species, anyone who was engaged in the incident may face legal consequences.
