Bicol, Samar likely to experience rain due to shear line – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The tail end of a cold front or shear line was seen to cause light to moderate with at times heavy rain in the Bicol region and most parts of Samar province on Thursday, the state weather service said.

“In the next 24 hours, the shear line will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Northern Samar, the northern portion of eastern Samar, Sorsogon, Albay, and Catanduanes,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in a weather advisory on Wednesday.

Pagasa also said that the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, is predicted to bring cloudy skies with light rains in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon on Thursday.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, meanwhile, may experience fair weather conditions with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon.

As for the rest of Visayas and entire Mindanao, Pagasa said it could likewise be a fair weather Thursday although partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms remain possible.

A gale warning was also raised by the state weather service over the seaboards of northern Luzon which was seen to have a rough to very rough sea condition with 2.8 to 4.5 meters of waves due to the surge of the northeast monsoon in the area.
