MJ Lastimosa Air Dismay to Philippines Expensive Antigen Test vs COVID-19

Miss Universe Philippines 2014 at Tv host MJ Lastimosa laments the expensive price of the RT-PCR or antigen test against COVID-19 in the Philippines.

Former beauty queen expressed her dissatisfaction with the Philippines’ response to COVID-19 on social media. On Twitter, Lastimosa enquired as to why antigen test kits are so costly in the Philippines.

She claims she saw a significant pricing difference between COVID-19 antigen test kits in other countries she visited and antigen test kits in the Philippines. She then asked if the Filipinos were “rich kids” to afford such expensive pricing of antigen tests.

“Bakit yung RT-PCR pricing sa mga bansang napuntahan ko kapresyo lang ng antigen dito sa atin, rich kids ba mga Pinoy? Kaloka talaga dito sa atin,” she tweeted.

To determine if a person is positive or negative for COVID-19, an antigen test is required. Meanwhile, MJ isn’t the only beauty queen who has expressed her opinion on the cost of antigen test kits in the Philippines.

Maggie Wilson, a former beauty queen, also questioned why antigen test kits are not free in the Philippines. Maggie couldn’t help but voice her dissatisfaction with the Philippines’ double-priced COVID-19 antigen test kits. She went so far as to compare it to other countries.

She revealed that they are free in other nations like the United Kingdom. The former beauty queen also chastised dealers who profited from the high demand in this area, even if the price was doubled.
