What are the four principles of human development and their implications in the educational aspect.

FOUR PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT – Here are the definitions and educational implications of the four principles of human development.

Experiences and environments both strongly influence adolescent developmental domains. The development has areas to which these specific areas are interconnected with one another. Growth and development may sound synonymous but really, these two words have separate meanings.

Growth is when a person displays changes physically like height, weight, size, and length while development is when there’s an overall change in an individual.

Here are the four key principles of human development and their educational implications:

  • Physical development – the physical changes that the body experiences such as increase in height, weight, and internal organ size to which these changes do not come in the same pace and rate for everyone. When it comes to education, this principle allows the child to learn through doing whatever he wishes to in order to fully grasp what the mentor wanted to relay and perfom according to the assigned tasks.
  • Social development – this is where an adolescent can finally establish sense of personal identity, role, and purpose. The people around them such as their friends and family play a significant role in order for them to achieve roles of being an adult. When it comes to education, this principle allows the child to learn through engaging oneself with other people who have different abilities and talents, aptitudes, capabilities and skills, interests and ideas, and so on. This way, it helps a child learn himself and discover something about himself in other aspects.
  • Emotional development – this refers to the way people think and feel about themselves and to other people. This principle talks about their inward thoughts as a major factor of this specific development. In learning, this development helps the child connect and relate to other people through that they think and feel.
  • Cognitive development – this is where the process of thoughts, being rationale, and perception get involved. This is a critical one because this development is where a child learns through knowledge-based concepts and ideas. This harnesses their ability to think and read between the lines.
