At Least 6 Dead After Huge Slab of Rock Fell From A Cliff Face Onto Boats On a Lake in Brazil

BRAZIL – At least 6 dead, 20 missing after massive rock formation falls on three (3) tourist boats on a lake in Brazil. Watch the terrifying video here.

Cliffs are dangerous because of their steepness and height. Lots of people have been killed or injured in cliff accidents. Some people fall from the top of the cliff when it collapses; others were hit by falling rocks.

Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world, contains high mountains and imposing waterfalls. Based on a report from ABS-CBN, Minas Gerais state fire department said a cliff collapsed onto boaters on a tourist lake.

The Brazilian authorities said at least six (6) people are dead and as many as 20 are missing after a massive rock broke off and crashed onto three (3) tourist boats in the lake. The incident took place at Lake Furnas, a popular tourist spot north of Sao Paulo.

“We do have six people confirmed as dead so far,” Lieutenant Pedro Aihara told reporters.

According to the report, the local firefighters and Brazilian Navy were deployed to the scene to help the victims. Fire department spokesman Edgard Estevo da Silva said “the current estimate is 20 missing people,” in addition to 32 who were wounded. According to firefighters, very heavy rain has fallen in recent days in Brazil making the collapse more likely.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro shared the video of the exact moment when the cliff falls on the three boats. The panic of the passengers who witness the tragedy could be seen in the video.
