Andi Abaya shocked when offered first TV series with love team partner Kobie Brown

Being a newcomer, former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Andi Abaya felt elated and shocked to be given a TV project which pairs her up with fellow PBB housemate Kobie Brown.

“Of course, napakalaking honor nito. Napakalaking opportunity nito knowing na we just started in the industry, our first love team project,” Abaya said during the online press conference for the TV series “Saying Goodbye” last Nov. 23, under a new partnership between iQiyi and ABS-CBN. The show also stars Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brillantes and will start streaming on Dec. 4, free on the iQiyi app and www.iQ.com.

(Of course, this is a huge honor. This is a huge opportunity, knowing we just started in the industry, our first love team project.)

It’s an honor, too, for Abaya, to be working with the SethDrea love team of Fedelin and Brillantes.

“The one thing I learned from Seth and Andrea is to just enjoy the experience. It is an honor working with the both of them. [I thank the cast] because they made the experience extra special, extra fun and it is something that I will forever keep in my heart,” she said.

As the series is about young love, Abaya believes that to be young and in love is “one of the greatest feelings in the world.”

“Sobrang sarap na nabibigay mo ‘yung pag-ibig na unconditional, walang limitation tulad ng sinabi ni Andrea. Kung may mahal kang tao, ibuhos mo ‘yung pagmamahal mo para sa taong iyon kasi wala namang masama kapag nagmahal ka,” she explained.

(It feels so great when you are able to give unconditional love, no limitations like what Andrea said. If you love someone, pour out your love for that person, because there’s nothing wrong when you are loving someone.)

Meanwhile, Abaya thinks that her role as Joni, the best friend of Brillantes’s character, is different from what she used to play.

“I guess I’ve grown to this project in a way that I was able to portray a different character. Along with other artists I’ve worked with in “Saying Goodbye,” that also adds up to the growth I received in this industry in my career,” she said, noting that her character is always happy and jolly.

“Napaka-positive niyang tao (She is an extremely positive person). She chooses to look at the bright side, hindi tulad ng iba kong character na may mga (unlike my other characters who got) downfall(s),” she said.

As a love team partner to Brown, Abaya confides that she initially did not know how to build chemistry on their first pairing.

“Paano ba namin pwedeng pakiligin ang mga tao sa acting na ‘yon (How will we make people feel giddy with that acting)? That’s one thing I learned, execute that kilig (giddiness) through acting,” she explained.

But it was all “fun” for Abaya who also credits Brown for teaching her as well to enjoy the experience.
