Kylie Padilla has opened up to her father Robin Padilla about her relationship with estranged husband Aljur Abrenica. She stressed that while she and Abrenica are now “okay,” she believes they are better off as friends.

Kylie discussed her separation from Abrenica in a conversation with Robin for her YouTube vlog yesterday, Nov. 27. While Robin did not state Abrenica’s name, he asked his daughter, “Okay na kayo (Are you okay)?”

“Okay na kami (We’re okay), yes. Thank God!” Kylie answered. “Okay na po talaga, Pa, promise. Basta ang importante, okay kami [para] sa mga bata.” (We’re really okay, Pa, promise. What’s important is we’re okay for the kids.)

When asked by Robin if she still feels hurt because of the separation, she admitted that the most difficult part about the split was that she could no longer enjoy Abrenica’s bonding moments with their children.

“Ang mahirap lang talaga du’n sa nangyari sa amin is never ko nang mae-enjoy yung pinapanood ko silang naglalaro. Yun lang, kasi alam ko talaga nang dumating yung time na hindi na siya nagwo-work,” she said.

(The hardest part of what happened between us is I can no longer enjoy watching them play. Just that, because I really know that the time came when it would no longer work.)

Despite this, she assured her father that she is happier and her relationship with Abrenica is no longer “toxic.”

“Mas happy na ako ngayon, realistically, kasi after ng mga nangyari, hindi na ako makakabalik doon sa kung paano ako before,” she told Robin. (I’m happier now, realistically. Because after everything that happened, I can’t go back to how I was before.)

Robin then expressed sadness over the split and asked Kylie if there is no hope that she would get back together with Abrenica. Kylie told Robin she sees a future where she and Abrenica are friends instead.

“No, no. It’s best for what it is now kasi tinitingnan ko rin and in the future, maging friends kami talaga,” she answered. (…because I’m looking at it and in the future, we would really be friends.)

Kylie added that she is “civil” when around Abrenica and is actually friends with him now, though “there’s a distance” between them.
