3 Arrested in Quezon City for Manufacturing Fake RT-PCR Test Results for Travellers
Police authorities arrested three (3) suspects allegedly manufacturing fake RT-PCR test results for 2 victim travelers in Quezon City.
Three people have been arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for allegedly selling fraudulent RT-PCR tests with negative findings in Cubao, Quezon City. According to the article, they were apprehended after victimizing two tourists.
The suspects are Bonifacio Bautista Jr., 50, of Brgy. E. Rodriguez, Quezon City; Guilma Cadilo, 45, of Brgy. San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal; and Alberto Bautista, 22, of San Joaquin, Iloilo, according to QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra.
According to the report, the culprit was arrested after Junalie Sambayan and Julius Anfone, who had booked their trip to Iloilo online using Juel Booking, complained. Albert, the suspect, allegedly picked them up and drove them to Cambridge St., Brgy. E. Rodriguez in Quezon City, according to the victim.
Cadilo allegedly told them that they needed to pay P16,000 for their trip. Bonifacio allegedly provided them their COVID-19 RT-PCR Test results and Certification the next day and informed them they may now travel.
When they got to the airport, however, the victims were taken aback when the security guard informed them that their documents were forged. The victims immediately requested assistance from the police, who responded shortly and detained the offenders.
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) acknowledged to the police that the three’s swab test result was a forgery. The suspects have been apprehended and will face charges of estafa and falsification of fiscal papers.
