Duterte appoints Quitain as chief presidential legal counsel

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Undersecretary Jesus Quitain as his new chief presidential legal counsel, Malacaang announced Tuesday.

Quitain will replace Salvador Panelo who is eyeing a seat in the Senate in the 2022 elections.

In 2018, Quitain was named as the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP) when then SAP Christopher “Bong” Go sought to run for senator in the 2019 elections.

Quitain served as administrator of Davao City when Duterte was still mayor.
