DILG: NCR areas under granular lockdown down to 139

MANILA, Philippines — Only 139 areas in Metro Manila now remain placed under granular lockdown as the government continues to implement its new alert level system in the national capital region, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Monday.


Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said that from the 896 lockdown areas since the start of the pilot implementation of the new alert level system in mid-September, this was decreased to 333 by Oct. 1.

It further went down to 139 by Oct. 15.

The local government units (LGUs) with the most areas under lockdown are Manila City, which has 34 areas under granular lockdown, Pasay with 33, and Quezon City with 30, Malaya said.

A total of 617 families are affected by the lockdown.

Some 30,275 family food packs have been distributed to different LGUs in Metro Manila, which amounts to P19.5 million, Malaya said.
