V.League: Bryan Bagunas scores 22 as Oita Miyoshi fends off Osaka

MANILA, Philippines—Oita Miyoshi and Bryan Bagunas had a strong start to their campaign as they took down Osaka, 25-19, 25-20, 21-25, 28-26, in their season openeri in the Japan V.League Saturday.

Bagunas finished with 22 points courtesy of 17 attacks, four kill blocks, and one ace, to lead the Weisse Adler who are looking to bounce back from their disastrous 3-33 record the previous season.

He is one of the three Filipinos playing as imports in the premier Japanese volleyball league.

Emerson Rodriguez pitched in 19 points, 18 attacks and one ace, to help Oita Miyoshi past the Sakai Blazers.

The Weisse Adler and the Sakai Blazers will meet anew on Sunday.
