Pagasa: Cloudy Saturday with a chance of rain

MANILA, Philippines —  Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will prevail in most parts of the country on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa cautioned the public of possible flash floods and landslides in rain-affected areas.

Meantime, the weather bureau said a low pressure area (LPA) off Palawan, is not expected to directly affect the country.

“Ayon nga po sa ating latest analysis at latest available data, ang movement ng low pressure area na ito ay palayo sa ating landmass,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported.

(Based on our latest analysis and available data, the low pressure area is moving away from our landmass.)

“Nakikita nga po natin na ngayong araw maging sa mga susunod na araw ay wala po itong direct effect sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa,” she added.

(We see that today and the following days, the LPA will have no direct effect in any part of our country.)

Rough seas up North

The state weather bureau likewise raised a gale warning over Batanes and Babuyan Islands, where rough sea conditions are expected.

Moderate to rough seas will prevail in the rest of Northern Luzon while slight to moderate sea conditions are expected in in other parts of the country.
