No adverse reaction reported in COVID-19 vaccination of minors pilot run — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — Not a single case of adverse reaction was reported on the first day of the COVID-19 vaccination of minors aged 12 to 17 on Friday in Metro Manila, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Saturday.

A total of

1,151 children with comorbidities

were immunized as of Friday, 8 p.m., Vergeire said.

“Actually, naging matagumpay po ‘yung naging simula ng ating vaccination rollout for our pediatric population with comorbidities kahapon,” Vergeire shared during the Laging Handa briefing.

(Our vaccination rollout for our pediatric population yesterday was successful.)

“According to the reports, wala po tayong nai-report na (there are no) untoward adverse reactions among these children vaccinated,” she added.

Eight hospitals – Philippine Children’s Medical Center, National Children’s Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, Pasig City Children’s Hospital, Fe Del Mundo Medical Center, Philippine General Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital-Global City and Makati Medical Center participated in the inoculation drive.

Children with the following comorbidities were qualified to receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine during Friday’s pilot run: medical complexity or those with long term dependence on technical support, genetic conditions, neurologic conditions, metabolic or endocrine diseases, cardiovascular diseases, obesity,  human immunodeficiency virus infection, tuberculosis, chronic respiratory diseases, renal disorders, hepatobiliary diseases and those who are immunocompromised due to disease or treatment.
