LTO Staff Arrested with Accomplice Fixer in an Entrapment in Las Piñas Office
Authorities arrested a staff of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) along with his accomplice fixer during an entrapment operation in Las Piñas.
The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and the Anti-Red Tape Authority have initiated an entrapment operation against a suspected driver’s license fixer. In addition to the fixer, the staff accused of colluding inside the LTO office has been detained.
According to ARTA and PNP-CIDG, they received intelligence that a woman who owns an insurance company was engaging in unlawful operations at the LTO Las Piñas office. The woman was stated to have a contact at the LTO who was said to be a member of the agency’s support personnel.
The two suspects, according to the complainant, offer a “sure pass” scheme. According to the program, anyone who wants to convert a non-professional driver’s license to a professional driver’s license will pass with flying colors.
The applicant will reportedly take the exam for P4,500 but will fail the answer and be told that their computer is faulty or that just half of the exam will be answered. They’ll simply be handed on after that.
According to the report, the true cost of the exam is only P425. In LTO Las Piñas, a 59-year-old male LTO employee and a 54-year-old female suspect were detained.
ARTA also issued a show-cause order to Chief Transportation Regulation Officer Joselito Luarca of the LTO Las Piñas to clarify the office’s breaches. Jeremiah Belgica, Director General Secretary of the ARTA, also urged government officials to ensure that no one is conspiring within the agency.
