‘Maring’ death toll climbs to 30 — NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — The death toll from Severe Tropical Storm Maring (Kompasu) that ripped through Northern Luzon rose to 30, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday.
Nineteen of the fatalities were already confirmed, but 11 were still for validation.

Most of the deaths were due to flashfloods and landslides.
The disaster agency also reported 14 missing and three injured individuals.
A total of
50,040 families or 194,677 people were displaced
by the storm.
Maring left a trail of destruction and an estimated
P1 billion damage to agriculture.
Hardest hit were
Cagayan Valley
and Cordillera Administrative Region.
