2 mayoralty candidates unopposed in Albay

LIGAO CITY — Two candidates for the local chief executive posts remain uncontested in Albay province for the coming 2022 elections.

Jose “Boy” Arcangel, an independent candidate is unchallenged after no other candidate filed to run for mayor in Jovellar town.

Arcangel was the acting mayor of Jovellar from 1986 to 1989. He was elected mayor in 1989 and served until 1997 then for another term in 2001 to 2010.

His son Jorem, who is the incumbent vice mayor, is now seeking for another term and is also unopposed.

In Camalig town, Carlos Irwin Baldo Jr. is also seeking for reelection.

Baldo is also unopposed.

“Being unopposed is an attestation that majority of the population lay their trust and confidence in my leadership, and I am more than willing to give back through improved public service until my last term as the father of this town,” he said.

Baldo served as mayor of Camalig from 2007 to 2016 and in 2019 up to present.
