Sara Duterte tests positive for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has tested positive for COVID-19, her office said Saturday.

In a statement, the office of the Davao City mayor said Duterte-Carpio had mild symptoms and is currently in isolation.

“The family requests for complete privacy at this time and respectfully urge the public to refrain from sending tokens for well wishes,” the office of Duterte-Carpio said.

It also advised those who came in close contact with Duterte-Carpio in the last 14 days to self-monitor for symptoms and get tested five to seven days from their contact with her.

Duterte-Carpio’s office did not say whether the Davao City mayor had close contact with her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, in the last 14 days.
