PAGASA Releases Update Regarding Maring-Nando Possible Merge

said that they may raise signal no. 1 in North Luzon areas due to the possible merge of Storm Maring and Tropical Depression Nando.

On Saturday afternoon (October 9, 2021), the

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration

released the latest update about Storm Maring and Tropical Depression Nando.

PAGASA reported that Storm Maring and Tropical Depression Nando are embedded within the larger circulation of a monsoon depression. The two might merge and affect many parts of the country.

The merge of the two weather systems may happen within the next 24 hours as their circulations interact with each other. The possible merge may cause the intensification of the weather disturbances.

“‘NANDO’ is forecast to move generally west-southwestward as it interacts with the circulation of ‘MARING.’ During this period, ‘NANDO’ may likely be assimilated and merged into the circulation of ‘MARING,’”

PAGASA said.

Maring might dominate and expected to move west northwestward during the weekend until Monday (October 11).

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Nando slightly weakens while moving at a west-westward direction. It is not expected to directly affect the country’s weather condition.

Nando has been last spotted at 930 km east of Central Luzon. It has Maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

The weather agency is also planning to raise Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) number 1 in Northern Luzon beginning Saturday or Sunday.
