Over 24, 000 Passport Applications Rejected by DFA Due to Incorrect Info

The

Department of Foreign Affairs

(DFA) has suspend over 24, 000 passport applications due to incorrect information.

A

passport

is an official governmental document that contains a given person’s identity, which helps to protect the holder on its travel to and from foreign countries. Many countries usually require aliens or foreigners to present passport at the airport.

The travel document contains the personal details and information of the holder including their full name, photograph, place and date of birth, signature, and the passport’s expiration date. However, DFA is strict when it comes to releasing of passports.

DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay said that the agency rejected around 24,000 passport applications for having wrong information including the applicant’s name and birth date. Most errors occur during online appointment.

The agency’s official said that only four out of 100 applicants are experiencing issues with the passport applications. A lot of aspiring overseas Filipino workers are complaining regarding the delay on release of their passports.

“Isa na diyan yung nagkamali sa online appointment sa kanilang pangalan at kanilang birth date [One of them is errors regarding names and birth dates of applicants],”

Dulay said.
