PH Army says 2 Reds killed in Surigao Sur clash
MANILA, Philippines—Two suspected communist rebels were killed in a clash with soldiers in Surigao del Sur province, the military said on Thursday (Sept. 23).
The 10-minute clash occurred at the village of Cabas-an in Cantilan town last Tuesday (Sept. 21), according to the Philippine Army’s 36th Infantry Battalion, which was involved in the firefight.

Soldiers clashed with at least 10 members of New People’s Army, armed wing of Communist Party of the Philippines, and found two bodies and weapons after the gunfight.
The bodies were turned over to the Philippine National Police for identification.
