70% Hospital Utilization For Half Of Metro Cities As Surge Continues

METRO MANILA HOSPITAL UTILIZATION
– According to the Department of Health (DOH) almost half of the cities within Metro Manila have a hospital utilization of 70%.
As the surge in COVID-19 cases continues in the Metro, several protocols were implemented to prevent its spread. However, despite the lockdowns, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire that the quarantine is only meant to delay the spread.
Now, Vergeire stated that within the NCR, the utilization rate or the number of beds used for COVID-19 patients had drastically increased. According to an article from Inquirer, the following cities have a critical utilization rate:
- Navotas (73.33 percent)
- Valenzuela (79.49 percent)
- Pateros (88.24 percent)
- Pasig (75.87 percent)
- Quezon City (82.37 percent)
- Makati (81.55 percent)
- San Juan (74.05 percent)
- Muntinlupa (71.09 percent)
- Las Piñas (78.13 percent).
Furthermore, Vergeire stated that the DOH is assisting to include more beds, temporary tents, and modular hospitals in the area to ease the accommodation rate. However, ICU utilization rates have risen to 70% in all of Metro Manila except for six areas.
As per the article, these areas are:
- Malabon
- Caloocan
- Pateros
- Pasig
- Mandaluyong
- Manila
