MANILA, Philippines—The PBA Philippine Cup is set to resume on September 1 at Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Commissioner Willie Marcial said Wednesday the PBA has already agreed in principle with Dr. Enrique G. Baking, president of DHSVU, and will just need the signatures of the school’s board of trustees to formalize.

Helping the PBA in negotiations were Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda and Cong. Dong Gonzales, who both endorsed the league.

“We had a meeting earlier with Cong. Dong Gonzales and President Baking and in principle we’re already okay, we’re good to go,” said Marcial in Filipino. “We can even set up next week.”

“I just want to thank Gov. Pineda and Cong. Gonzales for their help.”

Marcial added that they will just have to sign a memorandum of agreement on Sept. 1.

Unlike the 2020 Philippine Cup where all the teams stayed in one hotel, the 2021 tournament will have teams live across several Pampanga cities including Clark, Mexico, and Angeles.

The PBA last played its games on August 1 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City but had to temporarily halt operations after Metro Manila was placed under enhanced community quarantine.
