Police Intercepted Parcels with Drugs After Being Delivered Inside Isolation Center

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel intercepted some illegal drugs to be smuggled into an isolation center in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

PCG claimed in a report that they intercepted two delivery riders at different times. The PCG personnel allegedly caught delivery riders delivering a package for two returning overseas Filipinos (ROF) who were incarcerated in a motel.

Around 4 p.m., the first rider arrived with a box for one of the quarantine OFWs, according to the PCG Task Group Bantay Bayanihan’s spot report. The shipment was reported to include clothes and a cellphone, according to the sender’s online declaration.

When PCG and Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) officers analyzed the smartphone cover, they discovered plastic containing only probable methamphetamine on the back. The rider and the parcel were arrested and transported to the Taguig Police Station for further investigation.

“Huwag na nating ilagay sa balag ng alanganin ang kapakanan ng mga OFW at iba pang ROF sa mga quarantine facilities. Maliban sa nakokompromiso nito ang kalusugan at kaligtasan ng ating mga kaanak, maaari pa tayong makasuhan dahil sa paglabag sa batas. Kailangan namin ang inyong kooperasyon,” said Punzalan.
