MMC: Metro Manila fully vaccinates 50% of eligible population

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila has fully vaccinated 50 percent of its eligible population against COVID-19, Metro Manila Council and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Friday.

Olivarez said the region has also administered first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to 70 percent of its estimated 10 million adult population.

“Doon po sa vaccination napakaganda po sa buong National Capital Region. Pumapalo na po tayo sa kabuuan, yung atin pong first dose vaccination umabot na po ng mahigit 70 percent,” Olivarez said in an interview won ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo.

(The vaccination rate in the National Capital Region is really good. Our first dose vaccination has reached over 70 percent.)

“Yung second dose po natin umabot na po tayo, yung ating fully vaccinated sa population protection ng NCR, nasa 50 percent na po siya,” he added.

(50 percent of eligible individuals are fully vaccinated.

Olivarez said Metro Manila local government units are administering the four million COVID-19 vaccine doses provided by the national government.

During enhanced community quarantine (ECQ)  period in Metro Manila from August 6 to August 20,  National Task Force against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon has said 3.2 million vaccine doses have been administered.

Metro Manila and Laguna will be under the less stringent

modified ECQ (MECQ) from August 21 to August 31.

Bataan will also be under MECQ from August 23 to 31.
