3 nabbed for illegal lumber in Palawan
CITY OF CALAPAN – Police arrested three men before midnight Saturday for possession of freshly cut mango lumber in Rizal, Palawan, a report from Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (Mimaropa) police office said.
Farmers Arnold Espinosa, 39, and Dabs Owing, 21, and Jiboy Asandi, 26, were arrested at 11:50 p.m. when police, who were conducting a mobile patrol, spotted them in Barangay Punta Baja.
Confiscated from them were 14 pieces of freshly-cut mango lumber measuring about 151.1 board feet valued at P3,787.50 without any legal documents.
The lumber were onboard a motorcycle with a sidecar but without a plate number.
Suspects are now under police custody and will be charged for violation of Presidential Decree 1975 or the Revised Forestry Code.
