Responding to a distress call, Captain Dexter Torres of the Coast Guard’s Iligan station, deployed a team of scuba divers and volunteer rescuers for the search and rescue operation.

Commodore Agnes Soubiron, PCGA district auxiliary director, said they requested the National Power Corporation that during the search and rescue operation, the release of water from the Agus 4 hydroelectric plant’s dam be temporarily controlled.

When the water level went down, the divers found the teener’s dead body at around 11:40 a.m., trapped between big boulders underneath a balete tree.
