SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro: FIRE hit a public market in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro early Tuesday, the Bureau of Fire Protection here said.
The BFP said they received a call at 2:32 a.m.
A dry goods stall owner said they lost P1-million worth of stocks, which they only received on Monday.
“Kadarating lang ng mga kargada kahapon, kaiyak. wala na kami nagawa pagdating nung 3 a.m. makapal na usok di na makapasok (The goods just arrived yesterday. I want to cry. We couldn’t do anything about it. The smoke was thick. We couldn’t get in).”
“Bangon nalang uli. Grabe no, in time of pandemic pa talaga, tapos puro suppliers ng mga food business dito sa atin ang nasunugan (We’ll just get back up on out feet. This is bad and it happened in the time of the pandemic. Worse is those affected by the fire were suppliers of the food business).”
