Gilas 3×3 faces Qatar, Slovenia, Dominican Republic, France in group stage of FIBA OQT

The Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 squad is slotted in Pool C of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament slated from May 26 to 30 in Graz, Austria.

Based on the schedule released by FIBA on Monday, the national basketball team is set to face Qatar, Slovenia, Dominican Republic and France in the group stages of the tournament.

CJ Perez, Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol and Mo Tautua make up the lineup of the Gilas 3×3 team.

The Philippines locks horns with Qatar and Slovenia on May 26, and collides against Domican Republic and France on May 28.

The top two teams in each of the four pools (A, B, C and D) will advance to the knockout stage on the final day of the competition.

Six Tokyo Olympic berths are at stake in the tournament.

“The final day will start with the eight quarter-finals (4 in each gender) and then reach a climax with the six “Olympic Ticket” games (four semifinals and two third-place games). The winners of these six games will stamp their ticket to Japan,” FIBA wrote on Monday.

Mongolia, Poland, Brazil, Turkey, the Czech Republic are in Pool A while the United States, Lithuania, Belgium, South Korea and Kazakhstan are in Pool B.

The Netherlands, Latvia, Croatia, Canada and home team Austria are the countries in Pool D.
