The Aquastars swept an immaculate 4-0 win-loss slate and handed the undermanned ARQ Builders-Lapu-Lapu City Heroes its first loss in three games.

Big man Jhaymo Eguilos Eguilos canned 18 points and eight rebounds while Cebuano gunner Patrick Cabahug uncorked 17 markers, five rebounds, four dimes and two steals for the hot-streaking Aquastars.

Ex-Philppine Basketball Association player and reliable Talisay City court general Paulo Hubalde came up with another near triple-double performance of 16 points, seven rebounds and nine assists.

Playing without its key players due to suspensions, Lapu-Lapu City was able to stay within striking distance of the league-leading Talisay City and even got the lead, 67-64, in the fourth quarter.

However, Cabahug turned the tide for MJAS Zenith with a booming trey that tied the game and followed it up with a go-ahead layup.

The Heroes played without Jojo Tangkay, Reed Juntilla, Monbert Arong, Dawn Ochea and Ferdinand Lusdoc, who were all serving a suspension for the remainder of the first round.

Jerick Cañada piled up 10 points, 15 assists and eight rebounds while Vincent Minguito and Cris Regero scored 13 and 12 points apiece in a losing effort.

In the main game, Tabogon used a second-half outburst to escape the Dumaguete City Warriors, 86-78, thanks to the outside shooting of Joemari Lacastesantos, who finished with 18 points, six rebounds and nine assists.

Peter de Ocampo chipped in 15 points. Normel Delos Reyes added 14 points, three rebounds and two steals, and big man Arvie Bringas handed 11 points, four boards and three assists for the Voyagers.

Tabogon erased a 12-point, first-half deficit to come away with its second win in the tournament and gain fourth spot with an even 2-2 slate.

Dumaguete City, which fell to a 1-3 card, got 21 points from Ronald Roy and 15 markers from former Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. Most Valuable Player Jaybie Mantilla.
