Robredo in quarantine after exposure to Covid positive close-in security

VICE President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo on Saturday disclosed that she is under quarantine after being in “very close contact” with a member of her security team who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-2019).

She said she was supposed to leave for Bicol after the rollout of the Swab Cab in Quezon City, but had to cancel it at the last minute.

“I was all set to go; but just a few minutes ago, I received a contact tracing call informing me that my close-in security has tested positive. I was with him in the car, in the elevator, and in the office almost everyday this week,” said the Vice President.

“We have regular surveillance antigen testing in the office, and we do follow very strict health protocols. But because I was a very close contact, I need to do the required quarantine,” she added.

Robredo said she will take the mandatory reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test after her quarantine.

As of posting time, The Manila Times has been trying to reach the Office of the Vice President for further details.
