Clark to host three groups in FIBA ACQ

FIBA released the official schedule of the third and final window of the Asia Cup qualifiers (ACQ) late Friday night.

Clark, Pampanga will host groups A, B and C from June 16 to 20. The Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center will be the official venue while Quest Hotel will house the whole delegation of the event.

“Organized in protected environment tournaments in order to ensure the health and safety of all participants, these games will determine the ten teams that will join Bahrain and Lebanon, already qualified for the event,” FIBA said in a statement.

Home team Gilas Pilipinas, South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand make up group A.

The Philippines leads the group A standings with a 3-0 slate and just needs to win at least once to qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup proper in Indonesia in August.

Gilas will have three games in the qualifiers as the Philippine team will face South Korea twice and Indonesia once.

Slotted in group B are China, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia, while Australia, New Zealand, Guam and Hong Kong are in group C.
