THE number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the Philippines increased to 9,216 on Thursday, raising the total to 828,366, the Department of Health (DoH) said.
The figure includes 167,279 active cases, 99 percent of which are mild, moderate or asymptomatic while the remaining are severe or critical, according to the DoH.
The DoH reported 6,414 infections on Wednesday but attributed the low number to the few tests that were conducted.
There are 646,968 recoveries, including 598 new survivors, while 60 have died, raising the toll to 14,119.
Among the new fatalities are 28 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries but were later reclassified as deaths after final validation.
Positivity rate is at 20.8 percent, or 8,300 of the 39,969 samples that were tested yielded positive results.
The occupancy rates for the Intensive Care Unit, isolation and ward beds in Metro Manila are at 81 percent, 73 percent and 60 percent respectively.
