OVP rolls out free mobile swab testing

THE Office of the Vice President (OVP) is set to roll out “Swab Cab,” a mobile testing project to help curb the spike in coronavirus cases in high-risk areas, including Metro Manila.

The pilot testing will be held in Malabon City on March 30 and April 6, 2021.

Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo that the free mobile antigen testing project will be launched in partnership with local government units and non-profit organizations.

“We will be using FDA-approved antigen [tests] with high efficacy [rates]. First batch of tests will be from privately-donated funds,” she said. “But our office is ready to appropriate funds for more if urgently needed.”

The project is part of her anti-poverty program Angat Buhay.

“Hopefully, this will prevent those asymptomatic and who have not yet been tested from further transmitting the virus,” Robredo said.

Those who will test positive will be isolated and subjected to RT-PCR test.
