Convicted former Calauan mayor Antonio Sanchez dies — BuCor 

Former Calauan, Laguna mayor and rape-slay convict Antonio Sanchez died on Saturday morning, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has confirmed.

Col. Gabriel Chaclag, BuCor spokesman said Sanchez was declared dead on arrival at the New Bilibid Prison Hospital.

“Today at about 7 a.m., PDL Antonio Sanchez was found unresponsive at his cell. He was brought to the NBP Hospital by his cell mates and was attended to by medical staff,” Chaclag told reporters.

“He was declared DOA and subject for autopsy as per procedure on sudden deaths,” he added.

Chaclag, in a dzBB interview, said that the mayor had pre-existing conditions.

“Madami siyang dinaramdam sa katawan. Meron siyang chronic kidney disease, na ever since yun na po ang kanyang dinadaing, mayroon din po siyang hypertension, and for several times nagka-gastroenteritis na rin yan, at palaging chronic yung kanyang pneumonia, pabalik-balik,” Chaclag noted.

(He has many illnesses. He had chronic kidney diseases, that’s one of his complaints; he also had hypertension, and for several times he also had gastroenteritis, and had chronic pneumonia.)
