With 195 affirmative votes, the lower chamber approved House Bill No. 8986 on final reading during Thursday’s session.

The measure aims to rename the domestic and the international terminals of the Mactan Cebu International Airport to Lapu-Lapu Domestic Terminal and Lapu-Lapu International Terminal, respectively.

According to the objectives of the bill, the renaming of the terminals intends to honor Lapu-Lapu for his “bravery and patriotism” when he led Filipino troops against the Spaniards and won the Battle of Mactan in April 27, 1521.
