16 more villages in Manila placed under lockdown

THE Manila city government on Sunday ordered the lockdown of 16 more barangay or villages to curb the skyrocketing number of Covid-19 cases in the city.

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced that the following villages will be under a 4-day lockdown starting 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, March 17: Villages 1, 50, 106, 109, 184, 192, 209, 296, 493, 515, 586, 636, 669, 790, 883, and 875.

“I would agree with scientists and analytics that the growth [of cases] was very fast. The infection may catch up with preparation,” Domagoso said.

As of Sunday, Manila reported 33,844 cases, including 2,656 active cases along with 30,336 recoveries and 852 deaths.
