DTI reverts to temporary closure of businesses

DRIVING schools, traditional cinemas, gaming arcades, museums, cultural centers, limited social events in Department of Tourism accredited establishments in general community quarantine (GCQ) areas  will be temporarily closed in the next two weeks due to the rising number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced.

In a Viber message to reporters on Thursday, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said meetings, international conventions, and events will be limited to a  30 percent capacity

“Due to rising cases, DTI also supports scaling back of some activities that were recently reopened or expanded,” said Lopez.

According to Lopez, DTI will issue on Friday a memorandum circular reducing the capacity of some businesses.

Lopez said the operating capacity for dine in restaurants, cafes and personal care services will be reduced to 50 percent.

He also advised people to avoid crowded places.

Lopez likewise called on establishments to improve ventilation.
