PNP ordered to reinforce health protocols amid Covid surge

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) appealed to the public anew for enhanced awareness and cooperation in the implementation and observance of health safety guidelines amidst the current spike in new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Gen. Debolld Sinas, national police chief, said the PNP will “remain vigilant in enforcing public health guidelines and local ordinances that seek to lessen the effects of the pandemic that has so far infected 600,000 Filipinos, 12,000 of whom have died due to medical complications”.

Sinas warned that the people “cannot afford to lower our guard against the virus, especially at this point when the cure is already within reach”.

The PNP has reiterated instructions to lower units to reinforce existing police support to implement Inter Agency Task Force (IATF)-DOH guidelines and public health protocols in response to the national emergency.

It said “Mask, Hugas, Iwas” should be the “fundamental guide and basic checklist for individual protection in response to this public health crisis”.
